Travel tips for senior citizens: Destination ideas and advice

Many senior citizens, starting at age 50, are finding out that traveling can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Many senior citizens, starting at age 50 are finding out that traveling can be fun and very rewarding. At this age the discounts begin but they get even better at 60, 62, and 65. These discounts, ranging from eating in restaurants to lodging are very convenient and save a lot of money when traveling.

Disney World is for any age, 3 to 93, and also provides wheel chairs for those that tire easily. A lot of senior citizens like River Country because it often brings back memories of something they experienced in their youth also fishing, tennis and dancing. Disney World will soon have three Marriott hotels under one roof and rooms will include a refrigerator, food court, and free transportation to Disney parks.

There is a newsletter just for senior travelers called The Mature Traveler and a quarterly magazine called 50 and Beyond. You can probably buy them in any magazine rack in most grocery stores.

Many airlines offer discounts or special fares for those 62 and older.

Some seniors taking learning tours all over the world to countries like England and France. Nothing is required except the need to learn and desire to explore our world.

Another idea that is of interest to some is taking the grandchildren on these trips. These trips can range from going to a national park or even to another country. This is an extremely good way to teach children about other cultures and countries and it is also a excellent way for the grandchildren to bond with the grandparents. It would probably be advisable to take older children because they don't get bored as easily as the younger ones.

Older people are finding a whole new world to explore and learn about and that there are a lot of fringe benefits, such as discounts on almost everything. Being a senior citizen can be an enjoyable time for traveling because when they were young they didn't have the time or finances that allowed them the freedom that they have now to travel and now they can relax and enjoy what the world has to offer.
